If you're in the mood for a short(ish) story
Ship Rats: a short story in the Same Walk, Different Shoes cohort
Hello, fellow writer! You’ve stumbled across my old Substack on your writing journey. However, never fear, I am still talking about crafting a joyful writing practice, writing collaboratively with my partner, and just musing on writing in general over at my other Substack, Petra Glyphs. I’d love to see you over there. (And you can find all these past articles over there as well.)
This week I’m sending out something different. This last month I’ve been working on a short story for a writing project hosted by a fellow Substacker. Here’s the blurb about it:
“Same Walk, Different Shoes” is a community writing project that Ben Wakeman organized as a practical exercise in empathy. The premise is simple. A group of writers anonymously contribute a personal story of an experience that changed their life. Each participating writer is randomly assigned one of these story prompts to turn into a short story. The story you are about to read is one from this collection. You can find all the stories from the participating writers at Catch & Release. Enjoy the walk with us.
I’ve been very busy this last week making final edits and recording the audio for the story. So, instead of my usual thoughts on writing, I’m sharing a link to my story, Ship Rats, on my other Substack. (Petra’s Glyphs is where I post my monthly newsletters, with updates on my novel progress and glimpses into my life, and where I will now be posting my short stories and poems as well.)
So, if you feel like reading or listening to a cozy short story about kids in space with books, pop on over and check it out. I’d love if you do.
Back to our regularly scheduled programing next week.
Love you, Petra ❤
